NYT SAMARBEJDE SKAL HJÆLPE UDVIKLINGEN I FATTIGE FISKERISAMFUND

The Danida-funded Fisheries Sector Programme Support includes the promotion of small-scale, co-managed fisheries, improved quality of fisheries products, diversified income opportunities and information sharing in 8 provinces, including Hue. Several other donors, (including FAO, Spain, and WWF, support similar initiatives).
The FAO-Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) Regional Fisheries Livelihoods Programme (RFLP) works in 6 countries; Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Timor-Leste, and Viet Nam, and in 3 Provinces in Vietnam - Quang Tri, TT Hue and Quang Nam. It has 6 targeted outputs, including co-management mechanisms for sustainable utilization of fishery resources; measures to improve safety and to reduce vulnerability for fisher communities; measures for improved the quality of fishery products and market chains; diversified income opportunities for fisher families; etc.
At the initiative of the Spanish-supported programme, an inception workshop was recently held in Hue. A question was raised at the workshop as to how development programmes can efficiently share relevant information?
Many background surveys, pilot studies, training and extension materials and guidelines have recently been prepared by the Danida-funded programme. These will be made available to Integrated Management of Lagoon Activities (IMOLA), International Development Research Centre (CDRC) (Hue University) and WWF.
Another key agreement made at the inception workshop was for all involved parties to share information through regularly uploading data on to the MARD website (
www.agroviet.gov.vn
), with links to local and programme websites such as that established by the IMOLA programme
