ALPO STAMPS MADE IN VIETNAM
The Danish Embassy has supported 1,161,000 DKK to a partnership between ALPO and Sang Tao in Ho Chi Minh City to start production of office stamps in Vietnam.
Since 1947 the Danish company ALPO from Roskilde has designed and produced some of the best office stamps in the world. During its many years in the business ALPO has become renowned for the quality and durability of the stamp.
Since then, the company has moved into the production of inkpads, die plates, business cards, name badges and the like, but with self ink office stamps remaining its core business. However, due to increasing competition in the world market, ALPO has started to look abroad in order to lower production costs.
And this is where the Vietnamese producer of sheet metal products, Sang Tao, enters the picture. Sang Tao is a Ho Chi Minh City based company established in 1992 and currently employing 100 people. Sang Tao specialises in sheet metal products, electrical switchboards, and cable support systems serving customers such as Siemens, Fujikara and other local and international contractors.
The two partners intend to establish a Joint Venture in order to develop a competitive production platform in Vietnam, and then gradually start developing better products for the industry. The new joint venture manufacturing company will start off with a total of 18 employees utilizing 138 high quality moulds moved from the Danish company to press the steel for the stamps. In the long run this transfer of technology is expected to give opportunities of sourcing production from other manufacturers.
